High Resolution and Surround
Georgetown Masters is well-known for its part in developing high-resolution surround sound audio. As there are several release formats, each with different specifications and idiosyncrasies, Georgetown prides itself on being able to take care of the details so you don't have to. Georgetown has one of the most experienced and trusted staffs in the industry for work on these new high-resolution formats.
DVD-Video is the fastest-growing consumer technology in history. Providing digital video as well as digital audio in 5.1 surround sound, DVD-V provides excellent quality as well as multimedia playablity. Georgetown Masters can master your DVD-V release with the same expertise we use on SACD or DVD-Audio releases. As DVD-V relies heavily on audio data compression codecs such as DTS and Dolby Digital, it's important to know what your release is going to sound like in your customers' homes. Georgetown Masters can optimize the encoding process to work for your audio, rather than against it. To be sure you're delighted with your audio before it goes to authoring, we can generate a pre-encoded reference disc that can be played in your home player.
DVD-Audio provides greater audio resolution than DVD-Video, with the added feature of playback in some cars. Including backwards-compatible support for DTS and Dolby Digital, DVD-Audio is capable of playback of uncompressed 24-bit stereo 192 kHz audio, as well as 24-bit surround 96 khz audio. DVD-Audio also provides for visual content such as lyrics, photo galleries, and video clips.
Super Audio Compact Discs take advantage of Sony's Direct Stream Digital recording technology. DSD samples audio at 1-bit, 2.8 MHz, and does not require quantization, anti-aliasing, or decimation filtering. The SACD specification provides for a layer with surround DSD information to be played back in a SACD player, and a second layer with stereo 16 bit, 44.1 kHz audio for playback in any CD player.
